Prof. Orpha K. Ongiti is a Professor of Educational Administration and Policy Studies. She is a Ford Foundation International Fellow (2002). Prof. Ongiti earned her PhD and MSc. degree in Educational Administration and Policy Studies from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Albany NY. She attained her master’s degree in Education (MED) in Curriculum Studies from Kenyatta University, and a Bachelor of Education (BED) degree from the University of Nairobi, Kenyatta University College. Prof. Ongiti has a rich working experience with higher education institutions; which include research (mainly qualitative), face-to-face and online teaching, supervision of graduate students, curriculum development, implementation and evaluation; educational policies; and administration. Prof. Ongiti is a member of several professional bodies including American Educational Research Association (AERA); World Educational Research Association (WERA); Athens Institute for Education and Research (ATINER); Comparative and International Education Society (CIES); African Network for Internationalization of Education (ANIE); and Women Educational Researchers of Kenya (WERK). She is a Council member of the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Studies (KICD), and University Curriculum and Research Committees. Prof. Ongiti has participated in the following evaluation projects: (1) “Finding and Keeping Graduate Women and Minority Students in Mathematical Sciences/Graduate Education in the Mathematical Sciences; To Nurture Every Student (GEMSTONES) Project (2010); (2) The U.S.-Africa Partnership for Building Stronger Communities Project. School of Social Welfare, State University of New York at Albany (2008). Prof. Ongiti serves as the Dean of Postgraduate Studies and Director of the Institute of Research. In that capacity, she coordinates Postgraduate programs, Institutional Research, and Institutional Repository. Besides, Prof. Ongiti teaches in the departments of Education, Monitoring and Evaluation, and Peace, Governance and Security, at Africa Nazarene University. Furthermore, she is skilled in Advanced Research Design (Multi-Method Research Strategies; Policy Engaged Research, and Ethnography). Her research interests include Equity issues in Education; Internationalization, Partnerships/Collaborations and linkages, and Policy Issues in Higher Education. Prof Ongiti has published widely and made conference presentations—both local and international.
